Fabergé emerald cabochon ring

Today, someone who will hopefully become a new customer sent me this pic as an example of a 25 carat extra quality cabochon emerald which he wants me to try to source for him.

The ring was made by the famed Russian jewellery house, Fabergé. Hidden during the turmoil of the Russian revolution, it was recovered in 1990. Fabergé is launching their new collection with some very impressive emeralds.

The gemstone you see in the picture was described by Vogue as having “mystic forces captive, swirling in its depths”. I love this description: it really captures my feelings when I saw the photo. The emerald doesn’t perhaps have the greatest clarity but instead, the inclusion or “gardens” – as well as the sheer brightness of it - are part of the gem’s great attraction!

I think this is a good example of how each emerald can be unique, with its own “personality”.  I dearly hope I will find the perfect stone for my “customer to be”!
